PENNY ORLOFF...
Is a former Broadway featured musical theater actress, trained at Juilliard. Penny has gobs of regional, national, and international credits, along with t wenty years of teaching in Seattle as a Children's Theater Director - basic acting, improv, movement, voice, scene study, dialects, and musical theater classes for kids as well as adults.

When asked about creating a Dialects Class for BB's Kids, Penny said; "I love it so much!!! My specialties are regional American, regional British Isles (High British, Welsh, Scottish, Irish), German, Russian, French, Italian. For ethnic students, I can teach a hybrid Caribbean, West African, and Cajun patois.

Because children still have "an ear", I like to use ear training first, supplemented by a little IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). For fun, I use some vocal exercises, inflection melodies, tongue rolls/taps, gutterals, palatalized consonants, etc. I would be using short speeches, at first - progressing to improv in the dialect, resulting in scenes or monologues.

Penny believes, “The Gift was ours to borrow and has rested for a time in my keeping. The emerging and developing artists are the guardians of the Gift for the future. As such, it is my sacred duty to mentor those Artist Children, to fit them for a life along this Path."

We welcome Penny Orloff with open arms!
